Our precious humanity is becoming factured by social dislocation and nationalism/globalism divisions - and with less than 10 years until the SDG's are due, we must ask ourself - are we close enough? In this session, we will look to form a multifaceted inquiry into the parts of our collective humanity we need to take a good, long, hard look at.

Creating Industries and Unlocking Capital would have been a desperately important topic two, or five or ten years ago in Adelaide. The dichotomy of our life here is now even more stark - we live in arguably the city that is best placed to profit from the path out of the pandemic and yet the tremendous growth in risk capital that has happened elsewhere has, so-far bypassed South Australia. Our traditional industries are once again employing almost all of us and yet they continue to add far less value to raw materials mined and grown here than they could.

Today more than 90% of value for companies in the S&P500 is driven by intangible assets (such as data, brand, confidential information, trade secrets, software, trademarks, and patents). Research unequivocally demonstrates that sustainable long- term company value is derived primarily via leveraging intangible assets. However, these assets are typically absent, mispriced or under-valued on balance sheets. As a result, significant intangible value and risks remain unrealized and unknown. So what can companies do to ensure they are leveraging these assets to create and protect value within their organisations? Join us as we unpack this conversation with several field experts & company leaders.

Young woman (and non-binary people) are shaking the gates and demanding change to way in which our bodies, our ideas and our environment are being dominated by mindsets which no longer have the capacity to do good. If you want a panel thinking about the type of futures that might be possible, don’t go to the people promoting extractive technologies like bitcoin and NFTs. Have conversations with those who are going to change the system. This salon panel will assemble young women from Adelaide facilitated by futurist Kristin Alford to pick apart challenging visions for the future and the pathways for technology, social change, new economic models and environmental leadership that we are starting to note emerge.
