Trudy Lin

Young South Australian of the Year 2022
Dr Trudy Lin was awarded 2022 South Australian Young Australian of the Year, as the youngest practicing Special Needs Dentistry Specialist in Australia, providing oral healthcare to people with disability, psychiatric illness, and complex medical issues such as cancer. Trudy works as a consultant at the Special needs unit of the Adelaide Dental Hospital and is an Honorary Senior Clinical lecturer at the University of Adelaide. She completed a research thesis on implementing a referral tool to improve oral healthcare access for people with disability. This work has received multiple accolades, including the 2020 Australian and New Zealand division winner of the International Association of Dental Research Competition. Trudy is involved in advocacy for oral healthcare for the Special needs population, as president-elect of the Australian New Zealand Academy of Special Needs Dentistry (ANZASND). Trudy has volunteered for dental and humanitarian aid trips to Cambodia and Vietnam through Australian Health Humanitarian Aid. In May 2021, Trudy was awarded Award Australia’s Career Achievement Award, and the 2021 South Australian Young Achiever of the Year for her contributions to the community outside her profession. During COVID-19, Trudy established a Supported Independent Living facility for people with disability to live in the community.
