Michael Jones is Chief Executive Officer at Turbine Aeronautics, an Adelaide-based turbine technology company developing advanced turbine engine technologies primarily for aviation markets.
Following a distinguished military career as an Experimental Test Pilot, Michael held senior positions as founder and CEO of the Aerospace Group, Raytheon Australia and was also the Founder, CEO and Chairman of Regional Express Airlines (Rex Airlines). Michael co-founded and was Managing Partner of boutique corporate advisory and investment banking company Canterbury Hill Advisory for 13 years, completing over $2 billion in transactions and personally lead the growth and development of several start-up businesses from early stage through to sale or IPO.
In 2006 Michael was the founding Director of the Australian Sailing Team and lead them to be the most successful sport at the Beijing and London Olympics. Michael managed his own and portfolio livestock breeding ventures (Angus Cattle and Merino Sheep) from 2007 – 2013 setting 7 Australian Records for Angus cattle sale prices. From 2012-2014 Michael was the COO of the Australian Americas’ Cup Challenge and was also the Chairman of the Americas’ Cup Challenger’s committee. Michael was then recruited as CEO of the Brumbies Rugby Club from 2014-2016.
In 2017 Michael took up the role as CEO of Australia’s largest Warehousing, Logistics, and Agricultural services business AWH. Following two years at AWH Michael was appointed Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer at Virgin Australia.
Michael is a graduate of the Royal Military College, University of NSW and Empire Test Pilots’ School. He has completed post graduate studies in Applied Finance and Investment and Aeronautical Science. Michael is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Society of Experimental Test Pilots and the Financial Institute of Australasia.
In 2017 Michael took up the role as CEO of national Logistics, Warehousing and Agricultural services business AWH. Following two years at AWH in mid-2019 Michael was appointed Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer at Virgin Australia.
