Head of Government Relations & Advocacy
Stone & Chalk/AustCyber
I am an experienced public policy professional working at the intersection of tech and social issues, with a sound grounding in social, regulatory and, increasingly, foreign, policy. I think laterally, being a product of three countries, a diverse education and experience driving change from the ground-up, and I bring an extensive national and international policy network to the table. My experience spans successful advocacy for law reform, policy development in innovative areas, research and analysis, governance and management (companies, NGO Boards, and programs) and media management (proactive and reactive, global and local). I have served as an advisor to the New Zealand Government and worked for the NSW Government in Australia to develop policy, programs and strategies, including around innovation and digital government. Prior to that, I contributed to the landmark report of the NZ Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor on Childhood Morbidity and Mortality, released in 2011. Most recently, I authored Australia’s AI Standards Roadmap, which maps the international and local landscape for AI Standards – balancing different interests, ranging from trade to privacy, safety and security. As an NGO Board Director and adviser, I also work to incubate and scale services delivering vital frontline support for those in need, with a focus on equity, which was also a core focus of my PhD. My contributions include advocacy, leading to successful funding outcomes, strategy, financial oversight, and trouble-shooting. I aim to bring value by weaving together my experience, skills and knowledge, which represents – equally – breadth and depth and always speaks to a demonstrable passion for what I do.
